Established in 1991 as a subcontractor to the Posts and Telecommunications Corporation of Zimbabwe (PTC), Telecontract, part of Telco Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd, was contracted to undertake the design, installation and commissioning of both aerial and buried telephone lines.

In 2002, Telecontract became the first of the original three Internet Access Providers (IAP) to receive a draft licence from the Postal and Communications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ). In 2005, this licence was ratified as an Internet Access Provider class B licence, and later upgraded to an IAP Class A licence (2009) that enabled Telco to offer voice, video and data services.

2015 saw a rebrand that included introduction of value-added packages at reduced prices plus the grooming of telecoms talent through TACT skills enhancement programmes. Innovative solutions like Netflix-ready streaming have confirmed Telco Velocity’s nationwide presence and visibility as the most responsive, most competent, most accessible, most solutions-oriented and most preferred provider of broadband solutions. . . and beyond.
